HISTORY OF MOS

Enjoy reading about the history of MOS here.

The photo displayed on our website, newsletter and social media sites was taken by MOS member Anne Pfaff. The orchid, Lc. George Baldwin 'Prolific' belonged to Anne's childhood friend Cynthia Kurpiewski, who's great uncle was George Baldwin, a well-known grower and breeder of corsage cattleyas in the early to mid 20th C. George was a founding member and valuable contributor to the American Orchid Society.

Before her untimely death from cancer, Cindy's ambition was to collect all of the existing hybrids created by her great uncle that still existed. 'Prolific' was the only one she found.

The photo serves as a tribute to Cindy's passion for orchids and in recognition of Baldwin's many contributions to AOS and to the orchid world.
